FLORA’s hybrid care model is a personalized, whole-life approach that will help you create balance, confidence and joy.

Two practices, one approach:

Nutrition

The way you feed your body and mind has an incredible impact on your overall health. At FLORA, we take a holistic approach to wellness. Working with a health coach who has been trained in nutrition and healthy lifestyle practices can help you uncover what has prevented you from feeling your best, and can help get you on track to having the vibrant health and self acceptance you are seeking.

Our approach to health coaching

In your first session, you will really dig into your relationship to food: discussion will be around your daily and weekly routines with meals, movement, stress, sleep, and hydration - how these do or do not support your health. You will discuss past experiences as well as what currently informs your behaviors. After establishing a picture of your present habits and lifestyle, you will imagine the changes you would like to see for yourself. Your health coach will help you determine what can be modified in your life to make choosing healthy behaviors easy for you. You walk away from your first visit with a clear set of goals as well as actionable steps to start. You will then meet biweekly to take attainable steps to move you towards your ultimate goal.

Let’s build some new habits

Your health coach will teach you mindfulness techniques to help reduce eating when you are not actually hungry. You will address cravings, emotional or stress eating, mindless snacking, and sources of stress or disruption that lead to unhealthy food habits and choices.

Real and sustainable change takes time. Your health coach at FLORA will encourage you to commit to working together for 3 months (6 sessions) to get the most out of the experience. You will come away with a lifestyle (not a diet) that you can maintain, that supports your health and keeps you feeling the best you can feel.

Mental Health

Mental Health is central to our ability to function in all aspects of life. If something is out of balance, working with a therapist can help you discover what is preventing you from living a full, rich and meaningful life. It’s normal to struggle sometimes with things such as anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, feeling sad, angry or frustrated. You might experience difficulty in relationships, have low self-esteem or lack confidence at some point in your life. At FLORA, we can help you feel better and elevate your quality of life through evidence based therapy.

Our approach to therapy

We utilize CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) which examines thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how they are interconnected, and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) which examines the connection between what’s important to you and your actions.

Let’s set some goals

Working with a psychologist (therapist) is a collaborative process with a shared goal of helping you identify what you want in life and helping you overcome barriers that may be standing in your way. Your therapist will do an in-depth first session where you’ll have a chance to take a look at your past, present, as well as hopes for the future. Maybe you have a specific concern, like anxiety at work or lack of confidence in relationships, or a more general desire to optimize your health and mental well being. Maybe you are struggling with your relationship with food and your body. Whatever your desire, we’ll come up with some actionable goals and a plan to get there.

Evidence-based therapy techniques, tailored to your needs

You’ll meet either weekly or biweekly at first, and as you progress you will move to less frequent sessions. True change takes time, and your therapist will ask you to commit to the process. During your sessions you’ll examine your thoughts, feelings, behaviors and interactions with others to help you develop awareness of patterns and look for areas for change and growth. Your therapist will guide you through the process in session, and will ask you to do some “homework” outside of session too. Most clients find therapy to be eye opening, challenging and they feel supported and encouraged throughout the process. Psychologists at FLORA utilize therapy methods proven to get you feeling better, and will tailor your treatment to your specific needs.

How the Hybrid Approach Works
